Best feature is that as you zoom, it remains in focus and the f stop stays the same. Good all around range with an effective 24-70mm range. I think I made the right choice for use with my GH5.

Great lens and image quality, but looks and feels cheap

This item has been gifted most often by B&H customers.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.

Spent many weeks testing it. While it appears to be very similar to the v1, there are important differences, the most significant of which is DUAL IS 2, which is far superior to the standard OIS in v1 or even the DUAL IS 1 if you upgrade to firmware 1.3. If you are a video maker, it will be worth the extra cost for that stabilization during both stills and video shooting. This is why you would purchase this lens. (See Youtube for my GH5 IBIS tests). Most other aspects appear to be very similar to v1, v2 is a touch wider, v2 still shows significant lens flare (I wouldnt recommend it for sunset shooting, I think the Olympus 12-40 2.8 is better).

Standard zoom for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras, this lens provides a 24-70mm equivalent focal length range.

Splash, dust, and freezeproof design benefits working in inclement weather conditions.

Four aspherical elements, one ultra extra-low dispersion element, and one ultra high refractive index element all contribute to minimizing chromatic and spherical aberrations and various aberrations in order to produce a high degree of clarity, sharpness, and color accuracy.

The images from stills are really sharp. Decent bokeh. Lens feels well made and quality parts. Supports dual IS 2, which is highly recommended for handheld use.

Splash, Dust, and Freezeproof Design

This is a great standard range zoom for M43. Reasonably fast and quite sharp. Ive found it to be quite adept at getting high quality images for video and stills. And the stabilization works great in conjunction with the GH5s in-body stabilizer. The focus by wire design isnt perfect for every video scenario. But if you dont normally require mechanical focusing, this a great lens for most situations.

Everything you read about this lens – and its 35-100mm f2.8 companion – are true. Very sharp focus, excellent lens. This one was my first lens purchase for my new GH5 since it goes from wide 12mm to short zoom 35mm, right through the standard 25mm (50mm, 35mm equivalent). So once you buy this, then you will say I need that 35-100mm to complete the set since 3x zoom, for either of these lenses, really isnt much. You are trading off large zoom capability for lens quality and being f2.8 fast (low light). Then your next lens will be wow, even wider would be nice, the olympus 7-14mm F2.8 (which ive also bought). If you want a longer zoom, but higher f, consider the 14-140 10x. Ive bought that too as a travel all-in-one lens.

I use this lens for video mostly. I love its low weight and hight optical quality. It has focus by wire, which many people seem to dislike. But I paired with a GH5 camera, and do most of my focusing through the touch screen, which imo, is a superb feature. In low light I do it manually, but the focus by wire hasnt been a nuisance so far.

It is so amazing working with the gh5. While recording handheld, my friend sneezed and his hand moved as you obviously do, I have reviewed the clip and there was no movement recorded.. The stabilization for me is mind blowing with the gh5. I am so pleased with the acquisition!

Great lens for general use with a GH5

One UED Element and One UHR Element

I only have one complain about this lens. It has nothing to do with image quality, sharpness or anything but simply build. For a $1,000 lens, it just feels cheap. It feels like a kit lens that comes on a Canon T3i. Honestly, it doesnt feel much different than a standard 18-55 Canon kit lens, and thats a bummer. For a lens of this price, it should feel better. It should look more professional, and feel more professional. It feels cheap and plastic which is not what I was hoping for. Its for my first Panasonic lens so maybe they all feel this way, but its a bummer. Im used to Sony Zeiss metal lenses, and Canon L lenses which are super well made and look sexy. This lens, not so much.
