(2000)The Next Episode2000Snoop Dogg (Whats My Name Pt. 2)
Dres verse was written by then Aftermath artist,Hittman. The singles title harkens back to Dr. Dre and Snoop Doggs classic smash hitNuthin But a G Thangfrom Dres 1992 solo debutThe Chronicin which Snoop Dogg instructs listeners at the end of the chorus to, just chill, til the next episode,, the line itself being a reference to the song Its My Thing, from theEPMDalbumStrictly Business, which in fact did not refer to this single but its predecessor, a leftover song from 1993 originally recorded forDoggystyle, but not included in its final version.[2]The song has many references to 2PacsCalifornia Love, which he did with Dr. Dre while atDeath Row Records, andTo Live & Die in LA.[3]Originally listed on the back cover ofDoggystyleas Tha Next Episode, the original version of the song was by Snoop Dogg featuring Dr. Dre, and had a much different beat and different lyrics. The original was 4:36 long, and referred to Dr. DresNuthin but a G Thangnumerous times. The background of the original was later used inWarren Gs Runnin Wit No Breaks on theRegulate…G Funk Eraalbum.
