Getting all 4 translated would have given a password to access to a couple teleporters, one near the cave where Naberius the necromancer was, in the initial section of Broken Valley (north of the destroyed chapel), and the other near Lovis tower. These areas would have given you some possibly ok loot (nothing special) and a skill book. Getting the skill book would have been better, but there are enough skill points in the game that missing one (or a couple) shouldnt be a problem.

Zixzax the almost wise can translate the 4 parchments; he is outside Maxos temple, at a structure with 3 dragon statues in the middle. You need to talk to Lovis in his tower before the way to Maxos temple will be open.
